Rachel Matthews, aged 3, from Warwick, is just one of the recipients of the Bookstart packs. Her mother Sarah Matthews said: 'The Bookstart books are really well chosen and Rachel's five-year-old brother Sam even got in on the act by reading one of them to her.' She added: 'Rachel’s favourite nursery rhyme is Twinkle, twinkle little star.
Reza Ali and his son Rhys aged 15 months, from Rugby, reading one of the Bookstart books which are free to all children.
Rhys Ali, aged 15 months, from Rugby is just one of the recipients of the Bookstart packs. His father Reza Ali said: 'I love reading and I'm really glad that Rhys is following in my footsteps by also enjoying a good book! We've bought and borrowed books for Rhys from day one and, with the addition of his Bookstart books, he now has a bookshelf that is rapidly running out of space.' He added: 'Rhys' favourite nursery rhymes are Row, row, row your boat (especially the actions!) and Twinkle, twinkle little star.'
Shipston-on-Stour residents John Packham, aged 79, and his grandson Felix, 14 months, reading one of the Bookstart books which are free to all children.
Felix, aged 14 months, from Shipston is just one of the recipients of the Bookstart packs. His grandfather John Packham, aged 79, said: 'We love reading together and I think it’s so important for children to have books at home. If you enjoy books at an early age you’re not scared of them later on when you go to school.' He added: 'Felix’s favourite nursery rhyme is Row, row, row your boat. He loves the actions and singing row, row and my favourite rhyme is Pop goes the weasel because of the historical context - it paints a wonderful picture of how the poor used to live in Victorian London.'
