Beachy reading

I've been a naughty bear recently. Instead of maintaining this blog, I've been getting myself ready for my summer holiday instead. I went down to Devon and stayed in a caravan in a village called Beer. It was very high up at the top of a hill that led down into another village called Branscombe. I had a wonderful time eating ice cream on the beach and sitting in a deck chair with lots of cream teas and sandwiches. It's been very hot recently and so there was nothing better to do than sit on the beach and read.

It was very relaxing, so relaxing in fact that I didn't come online for a whole week! I went for walks in the hills and along the beach, I went to visit my friends at the Donkey Sanctuary, and I played cards in the caravan.

I must say, after asking you all where your favourite places to read are, much as I do love reading everywhere, this beach is my favourite place in the world. Feeling the sea breeze on my paws, the sun streaming down on me and a good book in my lap. It's heaven. I've been reading two lovely books, one called We Are Wearing Out the Naughty Step, which is all about naughty children and a mummy who has a brainwave to make them behave- it's very funny. The other book is Go Bugs Go! which is about all the fun bugs have. Oh, it's a lot of fun, my favourite is their special train. In fact, I love these books so much, I've asked my friends at Bookstart to share them with you. So if they sound interesting, be sure to enter our Bookstart competiton to win both! In other news, we have been putting together some special surprises for National Bookstart Day, which is on 9 October 2009. The theme is rhyme, so remember the time because if you miss out, it's a crime... get in line... it's nearly National Bookstart Day!

Ho-hum- I should have been a poet. I'm also helping to put together some books on the importance of reading in different languages. They will be here soon. I'm starting on my travels around the country shortly.

I won't leave it so long next time!
