The Rhyme Challenge

Calling all professionals working with the under fives - Booktrust are pleased to announce the launch of The Rhyme Challenge 2010!

We would like to thank Wolverhampton Library Service for the inspiration of The Rhyme Challenge. Thanks so much for this super idea which we hope will become a nationwide success. The Challenge is for pre-school and reception aged children and is an extension activity to our bookgifting programmes; Bookstart and Booktime. The main aim of the Challenge is to encourage a love of rhymes and early poetry in a fun and informal way. It is also an excellent way to increase family involvement by encouraging fathers, mothers, family members and carers to enjoy learning rhymes within the home and get involved in their child’s learning.

All the resources required to run The Rhyme Challenge are provided in a downloadable format so you can start enjoying the Challenge immediately! We hope that this exciting new initiative will win support from families, capture the imagination and help to make every child a rhymer and a reader for life.
