Let’s get ready to rumble...

From Monday 8 to Sunday 14 June, there will be nationwide events to promote reading every day... because every child deserves a story and a cuddle!

Jungle adventures and booklets!

This year is jungle-themed – allowing families to have animal adventures as they share stories, books, rhymes… and activities! We’ve worked with Hachette publishers and are thrilled to be giving away special copies of Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz. There will be large copies for venues and smaller ones for families!

Printed publicity and activity materials are being sent to libraries, children’s centres and other venues. There are also loads of activity downloads for use at events and for families to share at home.

2014's hero content in the NBW families section will be replaced in June by 2015’s jungle activity pages, as well as an online Rumble in the Jungle storybook (read by Cerrie Burnell, with top tips and BSL video) and both a jungle picture maker and certificate maker.

Families doing craftsHosting and posting events!

There will be hundreds of other events around the country, including a launch event at Twycross Zoo on Monday 8 June! You could host anything from special Story or Rhymetimes to a Rumble in the Jungle party, or use activity sheets for mask-making, den-building, or a Hippo Bake-Off! Once you have your event details, please send them to your Bookstart Coordinator to post online. We want all families to find a National Bookstart Week event near them.

Note for Bookstart Coordinators: please log in to add events You can post multiple events by:
