Families visited Ardoyne Library in Belfast last week for a Song & Rhyme session

Families from Glenbrook Sure Start visited Ardoyne Library in Belfast last week for a Song & Rhyme session, during which favourite rhymes such as Incey Wincey Spider, Hickory Dickory Dock and Twinkle Twinkle were recited by the children and their carers.

The children then listened to stories read by the librarian, following which they received Bookstart+ packs from the Bookstart Bear.

The Bookstart+ Pack has everything you need to get started sharing stories, rhymes and songs with your toddler:

Two books to share with your toddler

  • My First Marks - a pad for you and your child to make marks, draw and write in together
  • Crayons - get started with mark making right away
  • 'Numbers are Fun!' frieze - great to put up on your wall or fridge to enjoy numbers together at home every day
  • Toddler book guide - our recommended list of books to share
  • More Things To Do With Books! - tips for sharing books with your toddler
  • Satchel-style bag

Some Northern Ireland Sure Starts choose to buy Bookstart+ packs as part of their 2 Year Old programme. Please enquire at your local Sure Start for further information.
