The ideal place to find more books for your child

A message from libraries in Wales

Your local library is the ideal place to find more books to introduce to your child. You will find a wide choice which includes colourful board books with just a few words, books on colours and shapes, rhyme books, and picture books with longer stories.

Even the smallest child can become a member of a library and it doesn't cost anything to join. Many libraries will hold Rhymetimes and story times, which are a great way for mums, dads and carers to meet and share songs, stories and rhymes.

Here to help

Being a parent is a tough job and any help is welcome – your local library will also have books which can give help and advice. Ask us for books on issues which affect parents of small children, including

  • weaning
  • toilet training
  • dealing with tantrums
  • developing good sleep patterns.

Remember: libraries welcome small children and we don't say shhh! anymore!
