Early years settings and children's centres

Early years settings

Early years professionals have an invaluable role to play in gifting the Bookstart packs, in particular Bookstart Treasure Packs.

The Treasure Packs are gifted through school nursery classes, and private, voluntary and independent providers such as playgroups.

Children's centres

Thanks again for all the Bookstart over the years. It's a great programme and it really supports our work at our children's centre.
Trina Lynskey, Hungerford Children's Centre

Children’s centre staff work with parents-to-be, parents and carers to promote the physical, intellectual and social development of babies and young children so that they can flourish at home and when they get to school.

Children’s centres are a key partner in:

  • Promoting Bookstart
  • Signposting families onto other access points to receive their packs
  • Promoting and modelling the importance of sharing stories and rhymes
  • In some authorities are involved in gifting packs directly to families.

Bookstart Corner

In late 2011, we launched a new targeted programme, Bookstart Corner, that helps children’s centres offer intensive support to families so that they may share stories, books and rhymes with confidence.
