The Bookstart website is a magical way to engage tiny people. It's a brilliant supplement to reading at home. I have been spending a lot of time with my baby daughter, singing along with the rhymes and playing the various games.

My husband and I read to our son, Christian throughout my pregnancy, so he had a love of books right from the start!

I started attending the rhymetimes and storytimes at our local libraries from when he was about 4 weeks old. I find these sessions fantastic, Christian has great fun learning all the songs and interacting with other babies. We really couldnt be without them!

Every week we choose new books to read together at home, this has become part of our weekly ritual. Christian loves to hear us read and loves looking at the pictures. I really feel he learns a lot from books and reading together. I think its a wonderful thing to be involved in and best of all - it's free!!

Thank you so much for the Bookstart Pack my daughter received at pre-school yesterday. She loves it and was so proud to carry around the little bag, and told everyone it was her book bag. Her favourite book in it is the beautifully illustrated HALIBUT JACKSON. Bookstart is a great way to discover new children's authors and develop her love of reading. What a great initiative!

Bookstart has been fantastic for my twins from 7mths old to the 'treasure chest' they received today at 3 years old.

We visit our local library every three weeks to exchange new books and they were thrilled to be given their treasure chest each today and we spent the whole of the afternoon just exploring books.

I enjoy reading to my baby daughter, it's quality time I enjoy – in fact, I finally got my partner involved in reading to her too, which is an achievement!

It's bonding time for both of us, as well as us doing something together as a family – whether it's bedtime, when we're travelling or just sitting quietly, reading out loud and talking about the pictures. My daughter is babbling at the moment so this all helps develop her language.

These are our special times together to really enjoy.

Bookstart really encouraged my toddler to look at and enjoy books and I enjoy the closeness we have together when reading stories and singing.

I have two children who have benefitted from the Bookstart packs. The books inside are not what books I would have usually chosen, but they have all been brilliant. I have discovered some great new authors!

Although he can’t read yet we’re going to use the pack to start him off with bedtime stories. He loves hearing stories and absolutely loves visiting the library and being around books. He feels right at home and he loves being there.

Storytimes Rock! Saturday is Daddy's day, what more can I say? We love all the songs and actions and practise them all at home. Thank you.

Songs and Rhymetime gives me a chance to spend quality time with my son and also to have man chats with other dads. Oh and I also enjoy singing silly songs a bit more than I should!

The packs are full of useful information for parents and colourful books for the child. I have just collected the next pack for my two-year-old son who thought it great that he now had a red book bag like his older sister's school bag.

The two books are fantastic and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed them. Dear Zoo is read eight times a day and my daughter knows the books inside out now and can join in with me.

My child loved having the satchel to hold the books. He calls it his school bag, and has taken it to school when we take his brother each morning.

Bookstart really encouraged me to read books to my child. Can’t wait for the next red bag.

An excellent idea – our children loved the books and the satchel. We made a point of sitting down as a family and reading them together, which was a lovely way to share these gifts

The Bookshine pack for Deaf children was excellent. In the pack there was a card for signedstories.com, plus the book Shark in the Park with a little card to help you with the signs – really great. Elliot loves this book, it's so simple but has some good 'action' opportunities and he loves looking through his toilet roll handmade telescope!

It was a great surprise and pleasure to receive the books that we were given by our local health visitor. He has had days and days of fun from these books. Thank you for this kind gift.

I thought the Bookstart pack was lovely, my daughter was so excited by it. I really hope you continue with it as children gain so much from books.

Georgia loves the red bag the books came in and we carry it around when we go and visit friends and family. She enjoys telling people what’s in her bag and books.

I think Bookstart is a fantastic scheme and I was really pleased with the books and bag.
