Bookshine
Bookshine aims to help deaf babies and toddlers to get 'bookstarted'.
Packs contain two specially chosen books designed to stimulate children's senses, including a touch and feel book and a nursery rhyme book featuring BSL signs.
These packs are free to schemes and are available throughout the year for eligible children.
Bookshine is now available for older children (2-4 years old) - the contents remain the same but but one book from each pack is replaced by the carefully selected older option; Shark in the Park by Nick Sharratt. We are delighted that Nick has also helped us to create a special bookmark to accompany the book, featuring some of his characters using British Sign Language to sign key words from the book.

Packs are free to parents and carers
Booktrust uses the term 'deaf' to describe people across the range of deafness/hearing loss. Bookstart also uses the abbreviation "BSL" to refer to British Sign Language, and acknowledges that some families use other forms of signing.
