| National Bookstart Day takes place on Friday 10 October and the theme is Pirates Ahoy! Thousands of parties will be held around the country for Bookstart's biggest celebration of the year.

| Bookshops, libraries and children's centres will all be holding events for the under fives, with rhyme times, song and story-telling sessions and appearances from the Bookstart Bear. |
